Windows 2008 – IIS installation

• Add new role,check Web Server checkbox(new screen will apear to add necessary option “Windows process activation Service”(approve it)

 

 click next twice

• check interesting option(by default IIS offer following features like on pictures below)

 

generally default installatio is good for static web sites.

Because I want to upload files via FTP I have to check ftp feature like on screenshoot below.

 

I suggest to choose “Basic Authentication” and “IP and Domain Restrictions” from Security Tab and “HTTP Redirections” from Common HTTP Features Tab.

First two are great basic security features to allow limit access to our web sites,third one is very often used especially when we are owner of few domains and we want to redirect traffic from all domains to one.

• Check “summary” and install our IIS(Web Server)

 

 

 

• Open IIS Manager and set your web sites
